Dr. Shane Anderson

Dr. Shane Anderson is a distinguished otologist and pediatric ENT surgeon whose expertise greatly strengthens the myBalance advisory board. As the Director of North Queensland Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery and the ENT Department at Townsville University Hospital, he has extensive experience treating vestibular and balance disorders. He also directs the North Queensland Cochlear Implant Unit, specializing in cochlear implants, middle ear surgery, and pediatric ENT.

Dr. Anderson’s career spans international training, including a prestigious fellowship at the University of Arkansas with renowned cochlear implant surgeon Professor John Dornhoffer. He is certified by Cochlear Corporation, MedEl, and Advanced Bionics in cochlear implantation, and has served as a supervising otologist with Attune Hearing Services and the Hear and Say Center.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Anderson contributes to research on critical topics like smoking’s impact on otological outcomes, cochlear implant success factors, and treatments for sudden hearing loss. He is an active member of the Meniere’s Society, the Australian & New Zealand Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology.
